Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). The couple was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned acting as well as singing. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these roles. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The most successful film of 2001 The film broke records in its first day revenue as well as its opening weekend earnings. Reviewers praised the film, particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her impressive performance.
